Pipe stays!

Pipe stays!

It has been extremely neglected in recent years: the underground pipeline infrastructure. The acute need for action is leading to full order books at many sewer rehabilitation companies. Valuable equipment is used for the work. In addition, new pipes often have to be laid, which are stored in the immediate vicinity of the measure. Materials and machines are indispensable factors for the successful completion of the project – theft would severely disrupt the process. Columns have to be rescheduled and deployed elsewhere. Replacement costs time and money. This is where Video Guard comes in. The camera-based system uses intelligent software to protect a defined surveillance area. This allows machines and materials to be stored safely.

In pipeline construction and sewer renovation, we work with technical precision and powerful tools. For example, compressed air, hydraulic and electric tools such as cutting tools, drills and fans are used on these construction sites to lay pipes, dig trenches and drill wells. Construction tools and pipes are often left unattended on the building site – a good opportunity for thieves. Of around 5.63 million recorded crimes in Germany in 2022, the majority were theft and robbery offenses. To prevent delays during pipeline construction and sewer rehabilitation due to theft or unauthorized persons entering the construction site, the installation of a Video Guard camera tower has proven its worth.

This is because the “Video Guard” surveillance system with its high-resolution cameras and video analytics secures the construction site around the clock. Clear visibility at night is also possible thanks to the infrared headlights. The tower, which is up to three meters high, not only prevents theft, but also immediately detects unauthorized access to the premises. In the event of an incident, the system immediately sends notifications to the control center. This is staffed around the clock by experienced employees. In the event of an incoming alarm, they take action as quickly as possible to prevent possible accidents or theft. This significantly improves the safety of the construction site and helps to ensure that the construction work proceeds according to plan and without major disruptions. This not only makes efficient use of the construction professionals’ working time, but also saves costs incurred in the event of theft or unexpected delays.

Especially when there is a high order density, the available personnel are usually tightly scheduled. This shows that planning efficient security at an early stage is an important element in supporting the carefully developed plan. Because in the event of theft, it is not just the machines or materials that are missing – the resulting delays and the cost of replacement are often particularly serious. For example, delivery times for pipes have to be taken into account and the personnel who are supposed to install them are already scheduled for another construction site. It is therefore advisable to take precautionary measures and guard valuable items with systems such as Video Guard.
